Pico 4

Although Pico released a new headset in 2023 (the G3), it’s designed for business use and doesn’t offer the same visual capabilities as the Pico 4. So, for now, those who like Pico headsets should stick to the 4 to get their passthrough fix. 

When looking at a side-by-side comparison, the Pico 4 and the Meta Quest Pro look pretty similar, although the Pico 4 is definitely sharper. When you’re wearing the headsets, the difference is a bit more noticeable, so if you’re looking to buy a headset specifically for passthrough, the Pico 4 might be a better option.

Meta Quest Pro

The Quest Pro is also a good option. It's a step up from the Quest 2, but has already been surpassed in terms of value by the Meta Quest 3.

Meta Quest 2

As we’ve covered in the past, the Meta Quest 2 is one of the best all-around VR headsets, thanks to its ease of use, affordability, and high-resolution imaging. However, when it comes to passthrough porn, it’s just okay because it shows your environment in black and white. So, as you set up the scene, there’s some inconsistency as the model is in color while the background isn’t. 

Vive XR Elite

SLR and DeoVR app don’t fully support passthrough AR porn on this headset, so you won’t be able to watch your favorite scenes. However, since we’re just looking at the best headsets for passthrough imaging, we wanted to share that it is possible on the Vive XR Elite. 

That said, while the Vive offers color imaging, the clarity and sharpness of the picture is not at the same level as the Quest Pro or Pico 4. Overall, if you’re looking for something decent for VR porn, the Vive XR won’t be a good investment. 

Apple Vision Pro

The Apple Vision Pro is truly a remarkable piece of kit. However, in true Apple form, the system has made it incredibly difficult to use for adult content and passthrough video compatibility. Don't worry: It's possible to watch VR porn on the Vision Pro using the Safari browser. But having a seamless experience with it is still a few steps away.
